地域文化商社うなぎの寝床とのコラボレーションプロジェクト。
久留米絣は糸を括り、染め分け、織り上げることで模様を表現しています。括った糸で織りあげていく中、糸が微妙にずれ、柄がゆらぐことも、久留米絣の特徴の一つです。どんなに正確に織っても、結果として生まれる柄の「ゆらぎ」。
今回は、その予期しない模様、糸のゆらぎをテーマに、柄のズレもデザインとして取り入れて揺らいだ花柄をタテ絣、ヨコ絣、タテヨコ絣で表現し現代MONPEに仕立てました。
ハナのユラギというテーマで、糸のずれた美しい様子を分かりやすく表現した花柄のヨコ絣、織組織をイメージしたタテ絣、花柄に織組織が重なったようなタテヨコ絣の３種類の柄を久留米絣で表現しました。今回のコラボレーションを通して、久留米絣の技術を応用しながら新たな可能性に挑戦しました。

This is a collaboration project with Unagino-Nedoko in Fukuoka.
First I researched the beauty of the misalignment of the threads in Kurume-Gasuri and then took the unforeseeable fluctuation of the pattern as my design theme.Then I expressed the flower patterns by employing Warp Kasuri, Weft Kasuri and Warp-Weft Kasuri techniques.
Through this project I was able to challenge for the new design horizons utilizing Kurume-Gasuri traditional techniques.
