Dior Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo

For the newly opened『 Dior Bamboo Pavilion』 in Daikanyama, Tokyo, I created a special tapestry installation covering the walls of two fitting rooms.

『Dior Bamboo Pavilion』 is a comprehensive architectural and artistic project that goes beyond the concept of a boutique. The building reinterprets the façade of Dior’s historic address at 30 Montaigne in Paris, wrapped in golden bamboo, where culture and savoir-faire merge throughout the space.

For this project, in collaboration with IKEHIKO Corporation, I utilized traditional igusa weaving techniques to reinterpret Dior’s iconic “Toile de Jouy” motif in a Dior-exclusive tapestry edition. Using domestically grown igusa, the work expresses a contemporary vision of “Toile de Jouy” through Japanese traditional craftsmanship.

In addition, based on a single-line drawing I created by hand, I developed an embroidered room installation. By layering embroidery with specially uneven-dyed threads reminiscent of kasuri yarn, the piece achieves a soft, faded texture and a distinctive tactile depth. Within the intimate setting of the fitting rooms, I invite you to experience the immersive quality of the work.
